Summer 2013

Hello avid blog-readers and friends! I have not been on an international trip in quite some time, but brace yourselves, we're going on another adventure! This summer, I will be traveling to Hyderabad, India for 2 weeks. While there, I will be working in several orphanages providing English lessons, activities, and helping alongside the staff. I am just beginning the fund-raising process, and am open to any ideas on successful fund-raising. The trip will cost between $2500 and $3000, including airfare. The group that I will be traveling with is called Back3back Ministries. Their mission statement is: "Back2Back invests in the future of each child by meeting their physical, spiritual, emotional, educational and social needs, so that they can become self-sustaining individuals who give back to their community." There were several groups that I researched before choosing Back2back. I emailed the coordinator many times before deciding that this was the organization that would fit my beliefs. I do not agree with mission trips that go and force religion or spirituality onto others. I believe in being an example, living a Christ-like life, and serving others when I am called. I am not evangelizing on a soap box. I am serving others in need, and when I am asked about the Gospel, I share the Good News. Everyone has their own religious preference, and I respect that. But, typically when people see someone living a happy, healthy, joyful life, they want to know the secret. The secret is my Savior. And I'm always willing to share that secret!
